The End Is Near, The PROM Cometh!

One week and counting!

Next weekend is the prom for my little Diva.  We have the $65.00 ticket (Yes, you read it correctly….$65.00, SIXTY FIVE DOLLARS!).  We have the prom dress!  With the perfect little bag to match!  We have the after Prom “alternate” party dress, because … you know….  She cannot wear the same dress all night.  ***rolls eyes*** We have the prom shoes!  We have gone to have this dress altered …TWICE, no I’m sorry make that THREE times!  The dress is now at the cleaners to make sure it is wrinkle free for the big day!

It is down to the wire now.  Lastly, we have to solidify manicure, pedicure, and hair.  We have the make-up woman on standby!  This has been an exhilarating (for her) experience, and a draining (for me) experience, and frankly, I will be glad when it is over.  HOWEVER, the week after prom is graduation!

I am excited for her to be done with high school and heading for her next step.  I know that for many people the prom is a major milestone in life, but man the madness is out of control.  Lord have mercy, you need the right shoes, clothes, hair, accessories, and God forbid someone buys the same dress as you, then it’s going to be like Stephen King’s Carrie!  The level of preparation that goes into prom is madness!  I do not see why all the drama, but knowing what a DIVA my baby is I just have to roll with it!  I will of course post pictures of the big day!  I would think the prom should be about a last party and chance to hang out with friends, many of which will be going on to college, trade school, the military or whatever.  It should NOT be about the perfect look!  Nevertheless, whatever, it is what it is!

I am glad that the high school days are just about over, because frankly the educational system blows!  I totally applaud home schoolers!  She has been in 3 high schools.  1 in Rochester, New York, 1 in Arlington, Texas, and 1 in Fort Worth, Texas.  Let me tell you, I am more than ecstatic to be done with the public school system!

In the meantime, I am down to the last two classes for my degree (Yaaayyy!  Go Me!).  I am tired of school all the way across the board…

Stay tuned!  Next week is THE PROM!!!!!!!!

Pray My Strength Saints…..

Smooches,

The 13th Tribe – Book Review

What if immortals from the time of Moses walked the earth?  What if these immortals were vigilantes for God?  Would you stop them?  How?

Title – The Thirteenth Tribe
Author Robert Liparulo

Publisher Thomas NelsonDate of publication – April 2012

Number of pages – 416
*Thomas Nelson Publishing and Book Sneeze have provided me with an advanced, complimentary copy of “The Thirteenth Tribe” to read in order to write my review.*
About The Book:
Immortal vigilantes from the time of Moses have planned the unthinkable.  But how can you stop what you can’t see?
The battle didn’t start this year . . . or even this millennium.
It began when Moses was on Mt. Sinai. Tired of waiting on the One True God, the twelve tribes of Israel began worshipping a golden calf through pagan revelry. Many received immediate death for their idolatry, but 40 were handed a far worse punishment—endless life on earth with no chance to see the face of God.
The Tribe is poised to execute their most ambitious attack ever and the lives of millions hang in the balance.  To buy this book go HERE.

Now the good stuff, MY review!
This book was thrilling, engaging, and intriguing!  This was an excellent Fiction/Suspense/Thriller/SciFi book.  The book was an interesting trip into the realm of forgiveness, redemption, love, and the revelation of God’s word.  The book was not preachy but it did make you think about the way God’s word can be manipulated, twisted, and misinterpreted.  This book was an awesome example of theology gone wrong.  This book was a demonstration of what happens when you read the word but do not have a revelation of its meaning.  The “WHAT IF” factor of this book is mind-boggling!  I thoroughly enjoyed this book!  The book left me wanting more.  I wanted to know what were the last thoughts of Ben, where is Nevaeh, Where is Owen, How long did Jagger stay?  So many questions!!!  As a big fan of Frank Peretti books, I can honestly say that Robert Liparulo is poised to make a major impact on Christian supernatural thrillers!  The one thing I did not like about the book was that the book focused a lot on Nevaeh’s back-story but not so much on the other tribe members.  I think this was a mistake.  Other than that, this was an AWESOME READ!
This book would be a good book for a book club, men, women, or teen reading groups, for the churched and un-churched alike.  The book has a reading group guide, which will help those seeking a deeper connection with the word, or those looking for biblical correlation.  This book is a must read and on a scale of 1-10 I give it a solid 9.5!

Happy Reading!

Tested, Trialed, And Tempted, But STILL Blessed!

Why is it that some people MAINLY Christians feel that because you claim to be a Christian your life should be all rainbows, ponies, and roses??  Roses stink by the way.. but I digress!  The life of a Christian is anything but easy! We are TESTED, TRIALED, and TEMPTED daily!  If YOU are NOT getting the 3T treatment than maybe you should re-evaluate your standing with God.  That is not to say that God is the one sending the trials your way because that is not always true.  Some test and trials God sends.  Some tests and trials God USES!  Yes, God will ALLOW you to be tested.  In Luke, chapter 22, Jesus tells Simon that Satan has asked to sift him (Simon) like wheat.  In the book of Job God allowed Satan to test, tempt, and attack Job in numerous ways.  Job lost EVERYTHING! He lost his belongings, his house, his land, and Job even lost his friends and his family. His very character was attacked, BUT YET, Job praised God!

When all was said and done, Job STILL in spite of all the TESTS, TRIALS, and TEMPTATIONS, amidst all the destruction, death, and devastation……. JOB STILL PRAISED GOD!
Are you being sifted like wheat? What have YOU lost? What Trials, Tests, or Temptations have you gone through, lived through, going through? Will you STILL praise God?

I have good news for you Job came through his tests, trials, and temptations.  He was tried and found worthy in Gods eyes.  Everything that Job lost, God replacedmultiplied, and magnified in Job’s latter days!
Job 42:12-17 tells of the increase that God blessed Job with.

12 Now the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys. 13 He also had seven sons and three daughters. 14 And he called the name of the first Jemimah, the name of the second Keziah, and the name of the third Keren-Happuch. 15 In all the land were found no women so beautiful as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers.16 After this Job lived one hundred and forty years, and saw his children and grandchildren for four generations. 17 So Job died, old and full of days.

So, there you have it. After all the Tests, Trials, and Temptations, GOD BLESSED JOB ABUNDANTLY!

Be blessed beloved, there is a light at the end of that long dark tunnel!

Ball Of Confusion ….

I feel like a Ball Of Confusion!!  Hmmmm, I am wondering what is this evil plot my daughter is hatching in that evil brain of hers.  If she is not hatching an evil plan than sadly I must concede that the alien child of mine has returned to replace my birth child.  I blogged about the time aliens stole my baby back in March.  You can read that post HERE.
So you must be wondering why I am CONVINCED that the alien child has returned…  Well last night I had a paper due for school.  By the tine I finished this 1700 word paper I was tired and hungry so I popped a pizza in the oven for the Diva and I.  After I ate I went to my room where I was rudely reminded that I had washed my linens earlier in the day and had not put new ones on my bed.  **DEEP SIGH**  So I put clean linens and blanket on my bed, tied down this hair of mine, read my bible chapters, and fell into the bed planning to clean the kitchen in the morning.  I heard HER in the kitchen but it was 1 am and I was tired so I fell out.

I heard her slam the door as she left for school this morning, so I got up showered and headed for the kitchen to wash last night’s dishes.  You already KNOW what I found! Yes, the alien had come and replaced my Diva and cleaned the dishes!  Not only the dishes in the sink, but I had a pot soaking on the side of the sink and she cleaned that too!
In my confusion I walked back through the apartment and walked by their bathroom, upon pushing the door open I saw that the bathroom was CLEAN!  Yozza!! If anyone knows the Diva, they know that the bathroom sink is ALWAYS coated in STUFF! Hair products, combs, brushes, curling irons, flat irons, lotions, makeup, and all types of other stuff that I can’t even describe!  So I started thinking…. Hmmm, doing the dishes without me asking, cleaning the bathroom, her room has been clean for almost 2 weeks, she vacuumed the living room on Sunday, and she is making the bed before she leaves in the morning… and the strangest thing of all… SHE MADE SUNDAY DINNER!
So as you can see she is either an ALIEN or …she is planning to kill me… I have no riches to leave behind so the killing is probably out of the question.
I have to watch her more carefully and try to figure out what her and her kind are plotting!  I am not scared, just confused and contemplative.  I am wondering if I should love, accept, and embrace this alien child or should I be yearning for and looking for my birth child?????
WHICH WOULD YOU DO??

To help you think this over I leave you with the Temptations….

The Virtuous Woman

Ever notice that there are NUMEROUS times in the bible where it mentions God having to step in and be a Father to the Fatherless but it never mentions the Motherless…..

But then the bible also has almost an entire chapter on the Virtuous Woman…

The Virtuous Wife (Proverbs 31:10-31)

10 Who[b] can find a virtuous[c] wife?
For her worth is far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband safely trusts her;
So he will have no lack of gain.
12 She does him good and not evil
All the days of her life.
13 She seeks wool and flax,
And willingly works with her hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships,
She brings her food from afar.
15 She also rises while it is yet night,
And provides food for her household,
And a portion for her maidservants.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
From her profits she plants a vineyard.
17 She girds herself with strength,
And strengthens her arms.
18 She perceives that her merchandise is good,
And her lamp does not go out by night.
19 She stretches out her hands to the distaff,
And her hand holds the spindle.
20 She extends her hand to the poor,
Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of snow for her household,
For all her household is clothed with scarlet.
22 She makes tapestry for herself;
Her clothing is fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is known in the gates,
When he sits among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
And supplies sashes for the merchants.
25 Strength and honor are her clothing;
She shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She opens her mouth with wisdom,
And on her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 She watches over the ways of her household,
And does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children rise up and call her blessed;
Her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many daughters have done well,
But you excel them all.”
30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,
But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands,
And let her own works praise her in the gates.

Be Blessed!
Regina

Resolutions, NO! Plans, YES! ~REPOST~

~This is a repost~
We are one third of the way through the year, have you accomplished anything, worked on anything, moved toward anything???

The New Year is upon us.  Yes we are two days away from welcoming in a New Year.  2012 promises to be a year of new beginnings, of awakening, of empowerment, of no more business as usual.  2012 will be a year of doing things differently!  A year of NOT waiting for things to happen but of MAKING things happen!  And this is all just in my own life!

See, I am not big on resolutions because frankly once you make them you are pretty much destined to break them.  If you are making major changes in your life (or minor changes) why would you wait until the beginning of a New Year to put your plans into action??  It is totally unrealistic and absolutely asinine to think that you can only make changes to your life one time a year and that would be on January first!  Suppose mid-July you decide to return to school, or start a business, or learn a foreign language?  Do you have to wait until January first to do it??  NO!  So then why the big issue of writing some New Years resolutions??
What I will tell you is that as you sit and think about what you have done, and have accomplished, now may be a good time think about what you would like to do and would like to accomplish next.  As you are thinking about your next moves and goals you may want to start planning your route of attack.  Plan what you are going to do and how you are going to do it.  Because sitting and dreaming and doing nothing is a waste of time, energy, and brain power!  If you have dreamed the same dream for years or say to yourself, “I have wanted to do that all my life” and you are still not doing it, than you need to RE-EVALUATE your priorities, GET OFF your butt and MAKE IT HAPPEN!
“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results” -Albert Einstein
Write your plan, make it plain, and then PUT IT INTO ACTION.  But please think it through first, write it down.  An effective plan goes a long way.  The bible says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he who keeps the law — blessed is he” (Proverbs 29:18, Amplified).  So get your vision (PLAN), write it down, and then put it into action (DO IT!).  DO NOT waste another year, just sitting around and THINKING about what you are going to do ONE DAY!  Make THIS your BREAK THROUGH year!  Break through barriers, Break through problems, Break through finances, Break through doubt, Break through opposition, Break through stagnation!  JUST DO IT!
“Be great in act, as you have been in thought. - William Shakespeare.  So do not just talk about it or think about BE ABOUT IT!  Or as my Mother and Grand-Mother used to say PISS OR GET OFF THE POT!
As we end 2011, do not meditate on the what ifs, what could haves, or what should haves, FOCUS on the WHAT’S NEXT!
And as 2012 begins, so should you!

From Invisible To Invincible, God Can, God Will!

Gladys Knight and The Pips “To Be Invisible”
To be invisible
Will be my claim to fame
A girl with no name
That way, I won’t have to feel the pain
Indispensable
Just a plain old human being
Today, don’t mean a thing
In a world that’s so mean
A world that seems not for me
So privately, I’ll be invisible
That way, I won’t have to explain a thing, if you know what I mean
I won’t even have to be here, on the scene
These are the opening lyrics to the song by Gladys Knight and the Pips off the Claudine soundtrack album.  And the song ends with this line… “So I’ll be invisible, invisible, invisible” as the song fades off.  If you think about this song in the context of today’s society, people are running around in a world oblivious to one another.  Some are overtly showboating for the world audience but then you have the ones who are almost invisible.  They go through their own little private lives, not causing a stir and if you do not focus on them they are almost invisible.  they do not cause trouble, the do not rock the boat, they do not cause ripples in the pond.  They are in essence, invisible.
This past Sunday, Pastor Derick Faison started a new series titled, “INVINCIBLE” and the sub-title was, “Make Your Life Undefeatable”.  In the context of the Pastor’s sermon INVINCIBLEwould be the opposite of INVISIBLE.  I sometimes wonder what lurks behind the vacant smiles and the pleasantries that are so generalized and given so quickly as people rush in and out of our lives.

Are you an INVISIBLE CHRISTIAN??  Are you living a life that is a testimony to the Grace, Goodness, and Mercy of God?  Or are you just merely existing?  Do you think that your trials are greater than your triumphs??  Do you feel as if you have NO IDEA what your purpose is or that your life was, is, and will be wasted? If you feel that you are slipping away into obscurity or that you are invisible, let me share with you the scripture that my pastor shared with us.

“Philippians 1:6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;”
The three major points to the Pastor’s sermon were:
  1. God always sees the end from the beginning.
  2. God does not start anything he does not plan to finish.
  3. God gives every problem an expiration date!
God can take you from INVISIBLE to INVINCIBLE!

Be Blessed and Be a Blessing!

Stop Waiting, Get Up And MOVE!!

WAITING and WAITING and WAITING and WAITING……..
Is this YOU? Are you sitting around and WAITING for something to happen? Waiting for a sign, Waiting for some wonders, Waiting for manna to fall from the sky?
Well if this is you, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but … THAT IS NOT THE WAY THINGS HAPPEN! You cannot not afford to just sit… and … wait! The world is still spinning and moving but you are not. You have become immobile, you are STUCK! You may need to step out on faith, but you need to start taking those steps! It is good to have goals BUT if you are not working toward completing them they are useless! My pastor taught a series all this month titled “STUCK“.  One of the subtitles was “MOVING OUT OF UNPRODUCTIVE PLACES” another subtitle was “KEEP MOVING FORWARD“. So don’t you think it is time for you to MOVE! The bible says in Deuteronomy 28:8, “The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to...”. But guess what, IF YOU ARE NOT PUTTING YOUR HANDS TO ANYTHING HE HAS NOTHING TO BLESS! One of my personal favorite lines from Pastor Faison this month has been,OUR GOD IS PROGRESSIVE, SO WHY ARE YOU STUCK?“(Pastor Derick Faison, 2012).

So I would suggest that you pull your head out of the sand and MOVE in the direction of your God ordained destiny! Stop hiding yourself from the world. Get out there and share those God given gifts and talents!

I leave you with your thoughts and this video…

We Are ALL Trayvon Martin…

What do we want??? JUSTICE!!!
And when do we want it??? NOW!!!

I can imagine this was chanted during the Million Hoodie March today.

If ANYONE who can read this post thinks that this story does not involve them, think again! Anyone can look at YOU and feel that you are a threat.  Someone can “perceive” that you aim to do them harm because of your race, your dress, your attitude, your hair, or anything that comes to mind.  So at the end of the day

WE ARE ALL TRAYVON MARTIN

In Sorrow,
Regina
