Ms Grapevine and MarvalusOne have teamed up to create a meme titled Old School Friday and since I love my music I had to sign up to join! To join in the Old School Friday Fun go Here for guidelines.

I love my Old School music! It makes you want to love, think, get involved or just groove! This is a very complicated theme for me because I don’t equate “Old School” with drinking (I’m sure the real Old Schoolers probably do!). I did the most of my drinking in the late 90’s early 2000’s. When I think of songs to drink to I think of me and a past friend of mine hitting the clubs and posting up in the VIP sections (My friend’s brother was a drug dealer so we usually got preferential treatment) drinking Hennessey. The late 90’s through to about 2002 had some awesome rap talent! The nights started out mild and the more we drank, of course the louder and wilder we got. At the pinnacle of these outings we were bumping songs that I will not post here because of the lyrics & content but we listened to A LOT of Wu Tang, DMX and 2Pac to name a few! I found a semi-clean DMX to post. This was/is a very talented young man who unfortunately let his hard life get the best of him.

Happy Holidays Regina!Ironically, I was just watching Romeo Must Die and thought of posting “Back In One Piece” by Aaliyah and DMX. That one surely made me feel like sipping on something!Buju!Lawdhamercy! Excellent pick. Must say that song makes me think of another vice though and it ain’t drankin! Ha! Who Am I takes me back to the summer of 98. Talk about In Da Club. Can’t believe that was 10 yrs ago. Memories are just as vivid.Great picks. Happy OSF!

Happy OSF! One of the great things about these weekly memes is that you learn more and more about your fellow bloggers. It is nice to know that I’m interacting with a true baller from back in the day (smile). I enjoyed the DMX-Aliyah memory…Thank you for visiting my blog earlier today. I invite your blog readers to check out my tribute to Eartha Kitt as she sings ‘Santa Baby’. I’m not sure we appreciated her in America as much as she was appreciated in other countries around the world…peace, Villager
