Record Breaking Snowfall In Texas… Great…

TEXAS, TEXAS, TEXAS! When you think of Texas what comes to mind?? Maybe horses, cowboys, dirt, ranches, armadillos, cattle, Dallas, JR Ewing, or Football and Dallas Cowboy Stadium right? I bet when you think of Texas the one thing that DOES NOT come to mind is SNOW! Well those of us here in the lone star state made history last night by having a record snow fall of 11.5 inches (12.5 in some places) in North Texas. The news said that we have beat the record of 7.5 inches of snow from 1917 and 1964. So we made history…Yay. That’s right here in Texas we are covered in snow!

At 6 am this morning the snow was serene and beautiful and I just gazed at the works of God.

So after my morning prayers and a few pictures I realized… Hey this is TEXAS! Why oh why is there snow on the ground?!? I am NOT at all pleased considering that I moved here from upstate New York which has snow for more than half of the year! Snow and Texas should never even be in the same sentence!

I have an air conditioning unit that is being under utilized right now
and a lawn chair which is almost buried under snow!
The snow started yesterday, so I decided to get to the store before the roads got too bad because Texans cannot drive ESPECIALLY in snow, rain, sleet, slush or ice!
We get to Kroger’s and everybody and their Momma had the same idea!
The store was packed! The managers were bagging groceries!
Someones car broke down right in front of the store (better him than us).

We were at about 4-5 inches last night when the schools decided to close down. And this morning a record breaking 11 plus inches! Somewhere some parent is sipping wine out of the coffee mug trying to decide what to do next because the kids been up since 6 am, they’ve eaten, played, fought, watched TV, been outside and it’s not even lunch time yet and the parents are already out of ideas! LOL!! I don’t think Texas was ready for this. There are no snow plows or shovels here, LOL! So folks are just hanging around waiting for the snow to melt LOL!! For a change Texan children are experiencing a REAL snow day BUT THEY CAN’T HANDLE THE SNOW DAY!!
I got home made chicken soup on the stove cooking, but for right now I think I’m going back to bed and watch a movie …

Stay safe & warm!

Great post Sweetie! Remember you grew up on snow days. hahaha. That's when we would bake bread and rolls and make soup or beans and watch movies. This is just God's way of giving you a little taste of a happy time from your childhood to share with your children and others. Tee Hee. Enjoy!

Man, you guys really did catch it. Those parents should have headed over to the hardware store and bought shovels (probably don't have those in Texas either) so they could stay outside making some money.

LOVE the snow pics! We didn't get any snow this way. You can only imagine how disappointed DJ is. You know I am NOT disappointed at all. LOL

stopping by because I saw your link on networked blogs – I love your background pic! I'm also a northern transplant living in the South (moved from Toronto Canada to Charleston SC) and spent the weekend watching my neighbors learn about snow… so fun!

I know you were as tired of that snow as I was in GA. Who wants to move to warmer climate just for the snow to follow them? lol
