This Day In History, Basketball, Dr. J and Stuff…

Just a quick random BASKET BALL post!

This day in Black History is the birthday of the legendary great BASKETBALL STAR…
Julius Winfield Erving, also known as Dr. J!! That’s right on February 22, 1950 in Roosevelt NY. This basketball legend was born. Dr. J was a player on the New York Nets from 1973-1976 BUT he really made his mark on basketball when he played on the Philadelphia 76ers from 1976-1987! Happy Birthday Dr. J!!

Now THAT is talent!!

And speaking of Basketball …
NBA ALL STAR WEEKEND, took over Texas for a couple of days! But as Dallas prepared for the festivities Mother Nature had an entirely different pan! But despite the weather NBA All-Star Weekend was a success!
I am sure that you heard by now that Dallas, Texas broke a Guinness World Record for the Largest Basketball Attendance Ever!! There were a record 108,713 people in attendance at the Dallas Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, Texas for the NBA All-Star game on February 14, 2010!! WOW!! 108,713!
(The New Dallas Cowboy Stadium)

And Dwight Howard set a new record that weekend for the longest shot of a basketball while sitting on the court (52 ft 6 in) during the NBA All-Star Jam Session in Dallas, Texas on Feb 13th, 2010.

And to top it off On Friday February 12. 2010 Texas experienced it’s biggest snowfall in history!! Yes, a record 11.2-12.5 inches of snow fell on North Texas.

Not bad for NBA All-Star… I mean for Valentines weekend huh?
