Are YOU Impacting The Next Generation?

Good Morning All!!

It seems like forever since I have updated this blog! I have been uber busy! We moved to a new section of Texas a month and a half ago, I am still bombarded with school work, I closed my in-home Child Care business, and my baby girl is now a senior in High School! So life has been steadily moving forward and those were some of the highlights!

The actual reason that I am blogging today is because I saw a video yesterday and then a different video today that I think would be interesting conversation starters for the urban community. Though both videos have different subject matter initially they both share a common thread. They both deal with sex but in a very different way. Sex, Quick cash, Babies out of wedlock, have been ongoing issues in certain communities. This is a vicious cycle or in the words of my “saved” folk, a generational curse. What are YOU doing to break the curse/cycle??

Watch the videos and then answers these questions…

Is this an effective way to reach our youth?

Do you think videos like this teach a lesson or glorify a stigma?

Do you talk TO (not preach at) your child about this type of subject matter?

What are your personal thoughts on video #1?

What are your personal thoughts on video #2?

(Please post your feed back on this blog page)

SMHI do not understand why so many people want to be identified as making music. When people get angry about stereotypes–it is this type of mindless imagery that helps to make it happen.

I think very often a good, strong, solid point is rendered invalid and invisible when surrounded by too much imagery and an infectious beat. Folks no longer take the time to sit and listen to the lyrics of a song, they hear a beat and start dancing and the point is lost.

Swipe Your EBT has such a catchy beat that the message is lost. Young people will be so busy dancing to it that many of them will be emulating it with out even thinking about what thet are saying about themselves, or doing to their lives. And then there are the businesses that are capitalizing on the stupidity of the EBT swipers, not realizing that they effect their future also.Little Wayne's song, How To Love should be used for an open disscussion at a teen summit.
