Blog Award ~Thanks Dori~

My friend the beautiful and creatively talented Dori gave me a blog award last week but I have been super busy with homework, childcare and my ancestry project and am just now getting around to posting it. {{{Sorry Dori}}}
So the blog award is a Easter basket with chocolates and bunnies… it’s cute but …I do not celebrate a traditional Easter… I celebrate Resurrection Sunday. HOWEVER I am posting the blog award because it is for a childrens’ charity (and because one of my favorite bloggers gave it to me!). Hershey is donating money to Children’s Miracle Network. For each blog post, Hershey’s has pledged to donate up to $5,000 to the Children’s Miracle Network. Unfortunately since today was the last day and since today is a Holiday I do not think I will pass it on to anyone since most of the bloggers I would pass it to are probably spending some family time today.
The blog Award rules are:

* Copy and paste these rules to your blog post.

* Create a blog post giving a virtual Easter Basket to another blogger – you can give as many Virtual Baskets as you want.

* Link back to person who gave you an Easter Basket.

* Let each person you are giving a Virtual Easter Basket know you have given them a Basket.

* Leave your link at comment section. You can also find the official rules of this #betterbasket blog hop, and more information about Better Basket with Hershey’s there.

* Hershey’s is donating $10 per each blog participating to the Better Basket Blog Hop to Children’s Miracle Network (up to total of $5,000 by blog posts written by April 4th, 2010).

* Please note that only one blog post by each blog url will count towards the donation.

Thanks again Dori! You are such a sweet heart, sorry again I could not get to it sooner.

Oooo, Thank You Ms. Lisa!

I love the connections that I have made through blogging! I have met all types of AWESOMELY OUTSTANDING people!
I met the Lovely Ms. Lisa of Lisa C Writes who is on a very interesting journey of self realization. She is a mother, a wife, an educator and an inspiration to many women! Ms. Lisa was one of the inspirations of my transition to natural hair! It has also been very interesting following her hair transition from permed to natural but not nearly as interesting as following her and her husband “D” as they embarked on the tantric experience!
The Lovely Ms. Lisa has given this blog a beautiful award called the “One Lovely Blog” Award! I am excited because I LOVE receiving awards! But especially from someone as creative as Lisa!

I am passing this award on to:
The Blog Queen at Inconsequential Logic
Ms. Marva at Conversations With Marva
Mom’s Web at Mom’s Peace Bites
and last but not least Robyn at The Art of Freeverse
Please go by and check out these blogs you will not regret it!

Spread The Love Saturday!

Happy Saturday Blogosphere!

I recently have been blessed with a fabulous blog award from a dear blogging friend. Mr. Director authors the blog Electronic Village. The Village is one of the most influential, informational and needed blogs for African Americans in the blogospohere/afrosphere! I am honored to receive the award and double honored to receive it from the Electronic Village!

The 2009 Splash Award explained:
This is an award given to alluring, amusing, bewitching, impressive and inspiring blogs.

And the Rules to passing this award on is as follows:
The Rules:

  • Put the logo on your blog post.
  • Nominate up to 9 blogs which allure, amuse, bewitch, impress or inspire you.
  • Be sure to link to your nominees within your post.
  • Let them know that they have been splashed by commenting on their blog.
  • Remember to link to the person from whom your received your Splash award.

So now comes the time to spread the love and pass this baby on!

Hey Shae! Because her blog is always fun, energetic and amusing! She is like the cool kid on the block!

Opinionated Black Woman
because as the title of her blog says she is very opinionated and will definitely keep it real. In today’s world having the nerve to speak the truth is not only inspiring but very Impressive!

Keith’s Space because Keith’s writing and his style are both very alluring!

Healthy Habits Co Op because I commend her effort and drive to do something to better her life and the lives of others. Very inspiring!

LisaCWrites because this blog is definitely Bewitching. Ms Lisa’s blog has metamorphosed into something that mere words alone can not express but the words Alluring and Bewitching are a close start!

From A Yellow House In England because just the fact that someone from Georgia can live and thrive in England is interesting but the fact that they do things like cut the grass and then take the bagged grass to the recycling center to be made into mulch is downright impressive!

HealthnutWannaBeMom because she is always telling us the low down on healthy eating and exposing the myths about “healthy” foods. This blog uplifts and inspires!

Super Mae because reading about her life is plain and simply an amusing way to spend some time!

Sweet Potato Pie because she has chronicled her journey from fat to fit and she is an inspiration to read! I don’t know if she puts awards on her blog but I am awarding her anyway!

Well there you have it! Nine Amusing, Inspiring, Alluring, Bewitching and Impressing blogs!
I also have an Honorable Mention.
The Happy Go Lucky Bachelor who is on a blogging hiatus (You need to come on back Bro!) but has a very unique blog. I attribute Bewitching as being a female trait but not in this case! Mike pulls off Amusing, Alluring and Bewitching all at the same time!

So if you have some time on your hands and don’t know what to do with it go by these blogs and check them out. Spread some blogger love and tell them that Regina sent you!!

Peace & Love!

2009 Splash Award … Thanks, Director!

While I was on Facebook last night (Yes, I am now on Facebook!) a good blogging friend of mine, Director Wayne Hicks, informed me that he had awarded me a beautiful blogging award at his blog! You know how much I love to receive gifts and awards, so that made my night! But to be nominated for an award by someone like Director Wayne was a double honor. Wayne has one of the most influential and far reaching blogs in the Blogosphere & the Afrosphere! However I was done with the computer for the night so I messaged back that I would check it out in the morning. Well, this morning I went to his blog and found out that I was listed among nine blogs that he had awarded the Splash Award! AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
The 2009 Splash Award is described as follows:
This is an award given to alluring, amusing, bewitching, impressive and inspiring blogs.
And this is what Director Wayne Hicks said about my blog:
Regina inspires me with her blog posts about her family. She keeps it real and she serves as a strong matriarch for her peeps.
I am so honored. By the way if you wondered why I keep calling him Director, keep checking back because I will hopefully be posting an interview with Director Hicks next week… uhh, I have not exactly asked him yet so keep that on the low!

Anyway the rules attached to this award are as follows:

OK, so I have to pass this on to 9 blogs! Since I have some homework to do and need time to think about this, check back on Saturday to see who I pass this prestigious award to!

In the meantime, go by and check out brother (Director) Wayne’s blog!

Peace & Love!!

Nobility, Royalty, Queen…Act Accordingly!

When I get on the computer in the morning the first thing I do is check my email. My email inbox is always full of surprises! I check out what job sites have sent me updates, I check out what email jokes have landed in my inbox (My sister goes to work and feels it is her duty to pass on every Internet joke that she receives … Thanks Sis!), I check out what facebook notifications I received and I check what comments have been posted to my 2 blogs. All of the comments posted to my blog are sent to me via email. The people who come to my blog and leave comments take time out of their day to read something that I posted AND leave me a comment so I feel it is only fitting that I take the time to respond to them. I try to respond to everyone who leaves me a comment via email, however some commenters do not have that email response capability activated so I try to pop by their blog and leave a comment. I truly believe that giving and receiving go hand in hand!
This morning in my inbox I found a comment from Msladydeborah, who by the way has an awesome blog! She commented on my Old School Friday blog post which was really about my grand baby, The Little Princess. By the way I do want to take a minute to say I appreciate, love and respect EVERYONE who dropped by to show me some love on that post! You guys helped me get through that day and the weekend, because I was really in a FUNK (I didn’t even go to the gym, but I MADE UP FOR IT YESTERDAY!!!)! I love my blog family & You Old School Folks really ROCK!!

Anyway… moving on!
So in reading MsladyD’s comment I discovered that she awarded me the “Noblesse Oblige” award! I was thrilled because as you know I love gifts! But I really had no clue what the “Noblesse Oblige” award really meant. I went to her blog and read her post on it and I liked what I read. It said:
This award is presented to:
1/ The Blogger manifests exemplary attitude, respecting the nuances that pervades amongst different cultures and beliefs.
2/ The Blog contents inspire; strives to encourage and offers solutions.
3/ There is a clear purpose at the Blog; one that fosters a better understanding on Social, Political, Economic, the Arts, Culture and Sciences and Beliefs.
4/ The Blog is refreshing and creative.
5/ The Blogger promotes friendship and positive thinking.

I was impressed! WOW… but some understanding was still lacking because I didn’t know what the words “Noblesse Oblige” meant so I googled it (I do that a lot!!), and on wikipedia I found this:

In French, “noblesse oblige” means, literally, “nobility obligates”.

According to the French Wiktionary, the Dictionnaire de l’Académie française defines it thus:

1. Whoever claims to be noble must conduct himself nobly.

2. (Figuratively) One must act in a fashion that conforms with one’s position, and with the reputation that one has earned.

The Oxford English Dictionary says that the term “suggests noble ancestry constrains to honourable behavior; privilege entails to responsibility.” Being a noble meant that you had responsibilities to lead, manage, etc. You were not to simply spend your time in idle pursuits.

Noblesse oblige” is generally used to imply that with wealth, power and prestige come responsibilities. The phrase is sometimes used derisively, in the sense of condescending or hypocritical social responsibility. In American English especially, the term has also been applied more broadly to those who are capable of simple acts to help another, usually one who is less fortunate.
In ethical discussion, it is sometimes used to summarize a moral economy wherein privilege must be balanced by duty towards those who lack such privilege or who cannot perform such duty. Finally, it has been used recently primarily to refer to public responsibilities of the rich, famous and powerful, notably to provide good examples of behaviour or to exceed minimal standards of decency.

WOW! Now I was really impressed. As a child of God I can definitely claim Nobility and my name “Regina” actually means Queen or Royalty, so this works for me! This is the image I am portraying to others? AWESOME…
I actually took a moment to pray and thank God because without Him, for me nothing is possible. All I am is because of God!
So this award which has been bestowed upon me is not just a badge to display but actually a call to action. There is no time for complacency because there is yet WORK TO DO!!!

Thank you MsLadyDeborah!! For the awesome honor AND the much needed reminder!

Peace & Love! Make Every Day Count!
