Chari Twitty-Hawkins – Houston, TX. – ChariTs Inspirational Creations
Tell the readers a little bit about yourself
I am a first and foremost a blessed woman of God.  I am blessed to be a stay at home mom of twins with a passion for inspiring others!  I love learning, the arts, rocking my natural hair, being green, being a wife and so much more!
Explain what type of business you operate?  I create handmade inspirational jewelry! Religious jewelry, natural hair earrings, cause awareness, going green, motherhood, the arts, sorority jewelry…anything that promotes positivity, I can make it for you! You can find my inspirational creations at www.cicinspireme.com.
How long have you been in business? Almost 2 years right after I had my babies.
How did you get the name for your business? I was raised volunteering and helping others in my younger years and have a heart for charity. I took the word charity and spelled it with my nickname (Chari) and added my then last initial (T) to the end. Then I added Inspirational Creations to become ChariT’s Inspirational Creations because my jewelry is made to inspire! (Regina: VERY Creative!)
What motivated you to start this type of business?
After the birth of my twins, I was laid off which some would consider a bad thing. I consider it a blessing in disguise. During those first CRAZY months of taking care of my twins I said God I need to do something for me. I asked Him Lord what do you want me to do? Then one day I was on Etsy looking at all of the unique handmade things and thought hmm I could make my own jewelry. But what kind? Then it came to me, I love to inspire people so why not make jewelry with an inspirational theme? And the idea was born!
What are your top 5 must have business tools/aids? A great support system! I have learned the importance of this as a business owner. I am currently a member of the National Association of Christian Women Entrepreneurs and ibloom. Also a great marketing strategy, determination, a willingness to learn ALWAYS, and great customer service! (Regina: ALL Awesome tools, You can do nothing without support, determination, and good customer service!!)
Where do you see your business in 5 years? I see my business branching out into motivational speaking and performing. I am a lover of poetry, dance, theatre, and music and plan to get back into those areas of my life to inspire others!
Okay, so speaking of inspiration, what inspires you?
God inspires me, living my purpose, and seeing others live their passion and purpose in life thus giving others permission to do the same!
Who is your business icon or who’s business ethic do you admire?
My business icon is Oprah Winfrey. She has a superb team, helps others, and has her hands in so many business ventures. I love it!
If you were standing in front of a room full of hopeful, promising, entrepreneurs what would you say to them?
I would tell them to live their passion and purpose! To never give up, always be willing to learn, have a great support system personally and professionally and a great mentor too! God is behind them so there is nothing they can’t do!
FABULOUS!! I am definitely a fan of your work! You are indeed very inspiring!

Thank You…

I thought about this today…

Psalm 23
A psalm of David.
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
    he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
    for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
    through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
    for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord

The Father To The Fatherless – Who’s Your Daddy?

Psalm 68:5 A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.

On this Father’s day, I am thinking about spiritual Fathers.  Spiritual Fathers are the men who are reproducing spiritually, men who have matured spiritually and are now nurturing, and training a younger generation of spiritual children.  The men who are taking the time to impart spiritual knowledge, wisdom, and practices on our young men and women (and the not so young!).  Think of the stuff your earthly father is supposed to do just from a spiritual perspective. You know the loving, training, disciplining, encouraging, inspiring, motivating, but all with a spiritual emphasis!

I started thinking of my spiritual father and came to the realization that I did not have a spiritual father.  I found it very interesting that my mother was a single parent mostly (my parents divorced when I was 7).  So after thinking about it for a very long time, I have come to the conclusion that my physical mother was also my spiritual mother and she was STILL a single parent.  Now don’t misunderstand me, I have had spiritual men who had a place in my life, and who imparted wisdom, or knowledge, or some other resource that I needed at the time, but none of them fit the role of a spiritual father.  I had an awesome Pastor years ago who was very instrumental and influential in my spiritual walk.  He was Pastor George Samuel, of Faith Christian Center, in Staten Island, New York.  Pastor Samuel exposed us to awesome people of faith and awesome training.  We received training and spiritual instruction from people like Casey Treat, David Demola, Marilyn Hickey, and other exceptional men and women of faith.  Pastor Samuel gave us training that was unmatched.  He was the closest thing to a spiritual father, but more like a spiritual uncle!
We eventually moved to a new state, but I took all that I had learned with me!  My mother, who took it a step further and nurtured my spiritual yearning, corroborated everything that he gave me.  As I got older, I learned more, I studied more; I gained more knowledge and wisdom in the ways of the Lord.
I have been a member of other churches since FCC, but none of them matched the training I received early in my spiritual life.  The churches since then have complimented my learning, and multiplied it but no one has ever filled the role of a spiritual father.
Even though I have never had a spiritual father, I do not feel that I have lacked in that area.  I never felt like a spiritual orphan, or like I was missing out on something because GOD WAS ALWAYS THERE! I think I have come to the realization of what the verse in Psalm 68:5 means or what it means for me.  God has provided the nurturing and guidance that I needed.  He has become my spiritual Father.  So when that verse says that God is a Father to the Fatherless I feel that HE has me covered spiritually!  Whatever I lacked HE provided! HE is truly the Father to the Fatherless!

Happy Father’s Day!

Accidentally On Purpose

God does not make mistakes. He does things in His own way, by His design, and we do not have to understand it But I sure respect it!!

An elderly Chinese woman had two
large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck.
One of the pots had a crack in
it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered
a full portion of water.

At the end of the long walks from
the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half

For a full two years this went
on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half
pots of water..

Of course, the perfect pot was
proud of its accomplishments.
But the poor cracked pot was ashamed
of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only
do half of what it had been made to do.

After two years of what it perceived
to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the

‘I am ashamed of myself, because
this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way
back to your house.’

The old woman smiled, ‘Did you
notice that there are flowers on your side of the path,
but not on the other pot’s side?’

‘That’s because I have always
known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your
side of the
path, and every day while we walk
back, you water them.’

For two years I have been able
to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table.

Without you being just the way
you are, there would not be this beauty to
grace the house.’

Each of us has our own unique
flaw. But it’s the cracks and flaws we each have that make
our lives together so very interesting and rewarding.

You’ve just got to take each person
for what they are and look for the good in them.

His Grace Is Sufficient For Me!

Well it has certainly been a whirl wind few weeks.  In case you missed any of the activities…
There was Mother’s Day,
There was the Prom,
There was family from Arkansas,
There was family from California,
and then there was Graduation!!!
WHEW!!!!  Can I just say that I feel drained yet happy!  I am truly blessed with a beautiful family and awesome friends! I praise God for all He has given me and I take none of it for granted! There were exciting moments, there were sad moments, there were CERTAINLY frustrating moments but what it all comes down to is GRACE.  That’s right, GRACE!  The GRACE of God kept us, the GRACE of God strengthened us, the GRACE of God sustained us.  Without the GRACE I never would have made it!
His word says…
2 Corinthians 12:9 – And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather boast in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

When I was weak HE strengthened me….

The 13th Tribe – Book Review

What if immortals from the time of Moses walked the earth?  What if these immortals were vigilantes for God?  Would you stop them?  How?

Title – The Thirteenth Tribe
Author Robert Liparulo

Publisher Thomas NelsonDate of publication – April 2012

Number of pages – 416
*Thomas Nelson Publishing and Book Sneeze have provided me with an advanced, complimentary copy of “The Thirteenth Tribe” to read in order to write my review.*
About The Book:
Immortal vigilantes from the time of Moses have planned the unthinkable.  But how can you stop what you can’t see?
The battle didn’t start this year . . . or even this millennium.
It began when Moses was on Mt. Sinai. Tired of waiting on the One True God, the twelve tribes of Israel began worshipping a golden calf through pagan revelry. Many received immediate death for their idolatry, but 40 were handed a far worse punishment—endless life on earth with no chance to see the face of God.
The Tribe is poised to execute their most ambitious attack ever and the lives of millions hang in the balance.  To buy this book go HERE.

Now the good stuff, MY review!
This book was thrilling, engaging, and intriguing!  This was an excellent Fiction/Suspense/Thriller/SciFi book.  The book was an interesting trip into the realm of forgiveness, redemption, love, and the revelation of God’s word.  The book was not preachy but it did make you think about the way God’s word can be manipulated, twisted, and misinterpreted.  This book was an awesome example of theology gone wrong.  This book was a demonstration of what happens when you read the word but do not have a revelation of its meaning.  The “WHAT IF” factor of this book is mind-boggling!  I thoroughly enjoyed this book!  The book left me wanting more.  I wanted to know what were the last thoughts of Ben, where is Nevaeh, Where is Owen, How long did Jagger stay?  So many questions!!!  As a big fan of Frank Peretti books, I can honestly say that Robert Liparulo is poised to make a major impact on Christian supernatural thrillers!  The one thing I did not like about the book was that the book focused a lot on Nevaeh’s back-story but not so much on the other tribe members.  I think this was a mistake.  Other than that, this was an AWESOME READ!
This book would be a good book for a book club, men, women, or teen reading groups, for the churched and un-churched alike.  The book has a reading group guide, which will help those seeking a deeper connection with the word, or those looking for biblical correlation.  This book is a must read and on a scale of 1-10 I give it a solid 9.5!

Happy Reading!
